Whether people like to believe it or not, but there are many people who have never left their own territory. By this, I mean they have never taken a holiday abroad, nor have they experienced the joys of relaxation and learning about different cultures. Even something as simple as lying on sandy beach of Spain or Greece is an alien concept for some people. However, experts have revealed that people who do take regular breaks abroad are less likely to suffer from heart problems and reduce their stress levels dramatically.

People, who opt for activity holidays, are more likely to live longer and keep themselves fit and healthy. This is due to the amount of exercise they are involved with and the mental stimulation they gain from the experience. These types of holidays are more affordable than they were perhaps almost ten years ago, with more people in their forties joining in on the activities in comparison to younger groups of people.

Recently activity holidays have taken a step further, no longer being solely a holiday for sporting hobbies but also a holiday for people with varying hobbies such as art, antique hunting, horticultural, textile and theatre holidays. These have attracted those with specific hobbies, to enjoy what they do in a setting that offers creative stimulation and best of no distractions.

Art holidays can be experienced in places such as the Caribbean Islands, Japan or even Wales. These can offer tutoring, in cosy residential or attractive farmhouses. Antique hunting abroad is a not a new experience for those who are a fan of antiquities, however, France is amongst just one of the many places that offer fun antique hunting for all ages.

Horticultural holidays offer those with interests in nature an alternative to beach holidays. These are designed to be relaxing and tranquil with a view to experience the beauties of nature in places such as the Dutch Gardens, Australia or America. Textile and theatre holidays provide guests the opportunity to experience the arts in a different country, with an added bonus of taking course tailored for cultural experiences.

Other popular activity holidays include skiing holidays, mountain biking, kayaking, kite-surfing, windsailing, surfing, paragliding, mountaineering, rock climbing, trekking, tai chi, yoga, survival training and visiting large festivals and rock concerts. Amongst them, the most famous and popular of all holidays is skiing, which has been a favourite for many years to date. Young people in groups to small families enjoy the active break that offers luxury chalet accommodation, but also the experiences of staying active in an environment that teaches you new techniques.

Active holidays such as the ones above provide the guests the experience of keeping fit, whilst learning to relax and de-stress at the same time. Exercise is an important part of staying healthy and keeping your heart healthy. Many people however, underestimate the power of taking part in holidays such as these, possibly perceiving it as a daunting task.

These activities accommodate all people with varying abilities to take part, promoting awareness of your health and learning how to relax. This enables a strong foundation for people with little experience of travelling and enables you to learn a new skill. The more you learn to relax and keep your mind stimulated, the more you are likely to feel younger and lessen the aging process.
